Seniority (sto_ansiennitet)

The table shows how many years and days each Storting representative and deputy representative has served in the Storting. The variable could have belonged to sto_representant, but with a frequent need for daily updates it is appropriate to have it in a separate table. The source is data.stortinget.no.

Previously, seniority was stated in days, but now it is years and days. The starting point internally at the Stortingsarkivet is still days, but it is calculated on the basis that one year is 365.25 days. The presentation takes place in whole numbers. So how do we convert to days, which is what we want?

What corresponds to the Storting's own conversion from floating point numbers to whole numbers is to multiply the number of years by 365.25 and then round down to a whole number. Three years gives 1095 days; four gives 1461.

Since the Storting is the source, the data base is limited to representatives and deputy representatives from and including 1945. These include total seniority, also from before 1945. Representatives who have not been elected after 1945 are not included in this table.

Number of full years of seniority as stated by the Storting's data service.

Seniority Remaining Days (ansiennitet_rest_dager)

Number of whole days remaining when seniority days are divided by 365.25. Provided by the Storting's data service.
