Political activity at the municipal level (pol_kompol_aktivitet)

Politicians' municipal political activity is a field where we must expect large gaps in the data material. Duplicates cannot be avoided either, as the information comes from several older database tables:

• sto_Verv$ – data on Storting politicians, taken from data.stortinget.no. This is probably the most important source and the only one that is updated.
• komfylk – overview of politicians' municipal and county municipal activities in the period 1922-2011. Is identical to Nsd_komfylk.
• B1905_Komfylk – overview of politicians' municipal and county activities in the period 1898-1948.
• Pol_Bakgrunn – mainly older parliament and government politicians, all the way back to 1814. See NSD-rapport 73, ‘Politikerarkivet 1814-1986’.

Updates will typically take place every four years after a new parliamentary term has been established. The SQL script for this update has not yet been created at the time of writing, but will be able to start by comparing new data with the records we have with source 'Stortinget'.

Personal identification number (person)

Main index. Continuous internal identifier from the table i_politikere. Is mandatory and unique. Example: Tina Bru is 31610.

Role (rolle)

What the activity is about, for example ‘Medlem’ or ‘Varaordfører’.

Organ (organ)

Location of the activity, such as ‘Kommunestyre’, ‘Byråd’ etc.

Municipality (kommune)

Municipality number at the start of the period. The format is integer, which means that any leading 0 is not applied initially.

Municipality name (kommunenavn)

The name of the municipality if stated in the base material. Should not be used actively, but is included as a variable in case of problems with identification of historic municipalities by municipality number.

First year (fra_år)

First year in the role. Is NULL if the year is not specified.

Last year (til_år)

Last year in the role. Is NULL if the year is not specified.
