Parliamentary periods (i_stortingsperioder)

Here we find a translation from the parliamentary period to the years covered by the period, as well as corresponding variables that belong here.

The National Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814 was not, strictly speaking, a storting, but as the creator of a tradition it is included here and counted as period number 0. For practical reasons, the first extraordinary storting is also included, with the fictitious period number -1.

The variables are as follows:

Period number (periode)

Consecutive numbering, equal to the number of the first session that the period covers, counting the National Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814 as 0.

Years (årstall)

Character string with the years that the period covers, for example '1954-1957' for period 98 with the exception of National Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814, which has explanatory text.

Election year (valgår)

Can be equal to the first year in the period or the previous year.

From date (fra_dato)

First day of the period.

To date (til_dato)

Last day of the period.

Number of representatives (antall_rep)

Number of representatives in the Storting during the period.
